Membership Information
The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Southeast Florida is made up of individuals who devote themselves to stewardship of the Shetland Sheepdog breed. These individuals have a deep appreciation, love and devotion to the breed standard and do all in their power to continue educating themselves about the breed and what makes it truly unique. Most members are actively competing in showing their Shelties in many fields such as conformation, obedience, rally, agility, herding, pet therapy, and a variety of other events Shelties can excel at.
New membership in the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Southeast Florida, Inc. comes in three different options:
1) Full Membership,
2) Associate Membership, or
3) Junior Membership.
Eligibility for any of the above memberships is as follows:
Full members must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Full members enjoy all club responsibilities and activities including full dues, voting, holding office, and counting towards a quorum for the conduction of business. Applicants for full membership must have attended at least two meetings.
Associate members must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Associate members pay partial dues, cannot vote or hold office, and do not count towards a quorum for the conduction of business. Associate members have fewer club responsibilities but are encouraged to participate in all activities.
Junior members must be at least nine (9) years of age and are not to exceed eighteen (18) years of age. Junior members pay partial dues, cannot vote or hold office, and do not count towards a quorum for the conduction of business. Junior members have fewer club responsibilities but are encouraged to participate in all activities.
It is recommended that anyone interested in membership take the time to read the Club's Constitution and By-laws and the Code of Ethics located on our breeder referral page.
Currently, club meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month with the location of said meeting rotating among various locations or at a club member's home. Please check our Events page for times and location.
