Membership
The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Southeast Florida is made up of individuals who devote themselves to stewardship of the Shetland Sheepdog breed.
These individuals have deep appreciation, love and devotion to the breed standard and do all in their power to continue educating themselves about the breed and what makes it truly unique.
Most members are actively competing in showing their Shelties in may fields such as conformation, obedience, rally, agility, herding, pet therapy, and a variety of other events Shelties can excel at.
It is recommended that anyone interested in membership take the time to read the Club's Constitution & ByLaws and the Code of Ethics.
The Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm on Zoom.

Full Membership

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must have attended at least two meetings.
Full members enjoy all club responsibilities and activities including full dues, voting, holding office, and counting towards a quorum for the conduction of business. Applicants for full membership must have attended at least two meetings.
Junior Membership

Must be nine years of age or older.
Junior members pay partial dues, cannot vote or hold office, and do not count towards a quorum for the conduction of business. Junior members have fewer club responsibilities but are encouraged to participate in all activities.
Associate Membership

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Associate members pay partial dues, cannot vote or hold office, and do not count towards a quorum for the conduction of business. Associate members have fewer club responsibilities but are encouraged to participate in all activities.

In memoriam
Frank Lannon
Sheltie exhibitor and breeder under the Larrikin prefix; finished two homebred champions; served as Raffle Chairman for the ASSA National Shows from 1998–2004.
Sally Fortner
Founding member of the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Miami; helped establish and sustain the club during its early years through monthly meetings, educational programs, training classes, fun matches, and publication of the club newsletter, Sheltie Tales.
Nola Boyd
Active Sheltie exhibitor and breeder from 1989–2017; bred three AKC Champions and was a dedicated participant in the sport.
Jana Thomas
Life Member and longtime supporter of the club, Jana was an obedience instructor and certified therapy dog instructor who dedicated herself to promoting the Sheltie through community service. She shared her dogs with nursing home residents, children's literacy programs, and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, where her beloved Joy became the airport's first therapy dog, and she generously supported fellow club members and breeders.
Anna Whiting
Life Member; served multiple terms on the Board of Directors, as Treasurer, and on the Membership and Auditing Committees. A longtime volunteer who actively supported club specialties and promoted the Shetland Sheepdog throughout Florida.
Colleen Kessler
Life Member and longtime club officer, Colleen served the club in numerous capacities over several decades, including multiple terms as Treasurer, and was a dedicated Sheltie breeder and mentor. She was known for her generosity, welcoming spirit, and willingness to help fellow members, as well as her annual tradition of bringing her famous liver and chicken bait platter to the shows.
